Onward to Lombok

Days 7 & 8

A hideaway with acres of tropical gardens, shimmering ocean and golden sands along a private beach. Lush rain forests, sparkling blue ocean views and beautiful beaches will accompany us as we arrive at this idyllic garden resort.
The Oberoi, Lombok. Here we will stay in the Luxury Pavilion Garden View Room.

Just some information if you are planning on traveling around the island and visiting small villages it is more respectable to wear slacks or knee length shorts, a shirt with sleeves or a sarong.
Islam is the majority religion, but all other religions are practiced freely.
Every Friday around 12.30 noon, Muslims go to the mosques just like Christians go to church on Sunday.

Day 7:

Today was the day for souvenir shopping and Lombok offered some beautiful handmade gifts.

Lombok has great woven textiles like songkets and ikats that can be used as a sarong, wall hanging, table cloth and more.
The design woven is special to each weaver and it is passed down through the generations before.

Also while pursuing the streets of Lombok we came across another souvenir shop that carried wooden masks, baskets made out of ketak grass (the owner informed us of the ketak grass), wooden boxes designed with bits of shells, and it looked like some other souvenirs made from bamboo..! We all purchased one of the Songkets and a bag, and some gifts for our families as well.

Day 8:
After enjoying a late brunch at our suite we will be visiting the Gili Islands where we will spend the rest of the day scuba diving and snorkeling. Clear blue waters with abundant sea-life is what we will be exploring with Dream Divers. Visit the Dream Divers website!

After a long, eventful day we are ready to head back to our hotel room and relax before heading to Java in the morning!
